How to Choose a Professional Tour of Charlotte, NC Part 2 of 3
Using The Internet is Best

Click City Tour Info!By Jay Whipple/Trend Magazine Online™

Other folks contact the city itself for recommendations. Most cities are married to the local/area visitors’ bureau and will forward your inquiry. Please keep in mind that any organization that is married to the city itself will not provide you with the true history of the city. By true history I mean the bad as well as the good. For example, they will only mention the good/chamber weather and not the hurricanes, earthquakes, and floods that have occurred in the past.

Some folks also contact area hotels for tour company recommendations and typically they are a great source of referrals. Unfortunately, the hotels in Charlotte experience extremely high turnover and the front line staff are usually in the dark in terms of reliable referral information. In fact, most of these employees have never taken a tour of the city and if they did, they can not confirm or deny whether the tour content was accurate. Even worse is the fact that the upper management of the major hotels in Charlotte themselves experience extremely high turnover and most are not interested in the local history as they are booking room nights. As evidence, we send out invitations to hotel management -- on a regular basis -- offering FREE FAM tours to hotel staff and rarely receive responses.

Finally, some folks rely on the good ole internet to locate a reputable, reliable, and dependable tour company. This method by far is the best way to locate an independent tour company that will give you the history of a city/area without the fog/cloud of membership or propaganda driven content. Using the internet effectively will give you the individual a more clear and concise report on area tour companies.
