This restaurant has received a new lease on life from its former state and condition when it was located just across the street next to the Greyhound Bus station. It was part of an old run-down hotel building that looked very scary but gave you the impression that it was once part of a lavish dive that once serviced folks riding the old trolley which was located just across the street where the Polk building is currently. We go past these buildings regularly on Charlotte’s Longest-Running Daily City Tour by Queen City Tours and Travel while visiting Third Ward in Uptown Charlotte, NC.

I personally watched them build this restaurant from the ground floor up. It took them several months just to put the foundation in as they had to shore it up with huge pylons that were drilled and installed well beneath the earth’s surface. In fact, I was quite surprised to see that all of that hustle and bustle was just for a restaurant.

I decided to stop in one early evening for a bite to eat after another failed attempt to get into the Federal Courthouse next door for a pending infringement case in which I was the Plaintiff. It took a few minutes for me to be recognized up front by the staff so I decided to walk back into the bar/dining area in which I got the cook to ring the hostess. I sat at the bar and my server took my order. She was very friendly and attentive to my needs. My meal took less than the standard 10 minutes to arrive as I was the only one dining at the time. While awaiting my meal to come up I took note of the restaurant’s interior; it was very clean – as expected from a brand new building – and well organized. The men’s room was equally clean.

I ordered two Olde Mecklenburg beers while awaiting my ½ wings and spinach dip appetizers. My total came to $20.00 with 20% tip. The wings were okay but nothing really special. On the contrary, I especially liked the side salsa type salad served with my wings but did not care too much for the spinach dip as it was way too dry.

My overall experience was okay but nothing spectacular about this place. You should stop in if you are in the neighborhood.
